Sunrise at the Gandia Beach Breakwater

Discover the Port of Gandia through the route we suggest at Hotel Tres Anclas

The Port of Gandia, just a step away from the beach, will captivate you with its beauty, its views, the architecture of its most emblematic buildings, its charming promenade, its offer of bars and restaurants, and its services... Would you like to get to know it? We present it to you in detail below.
Pier of the Port of Gandia

The Promenade of the Port of Gandia

A beautiful breakwater marks the beginning of our route through the port area of Gandia. Walking along the Breakwater of the Port of Gandia is undoubtedly a "must" during your vacation in Valencia. It is a seaside promenade, located right at the beginning of the beach, extending from Restaurante Ripoll to the beautiful lighthouse that closes this impressive seawall.

This 1,080-meter straight walkway features numerous benches to sit and admire the stunning views. We recommend visiting at sunset or sunrise to be amazed by the colors and sea scents. Photography enthusiasts will find this spot ideal for capturing breathtaking shots. For runners, it offers an impressive backdrop for your routine.

One insider tip about the breakwater—only known to locals—is that as you walk, on your right, you’ll see the Bar El Pesca d'or del Club de Pesca Gandia, a traditional spot offering delicious tapas, salads, rice dishes, meats, and of course, fresh seafood. We recommend calling ahead for a reservation.

Gandia Marina

Gandia Marina

Once you leave the breakwater and walk into the port area, towards the northern part of the Port of Gandia, you will find the Royal Nautical Club, one of the most important in Valencia, with a capacity for up to 400 boats.

The best part of this enclave is enjoying a drink at sunset while watching the sun set over the boats. From the Gandia Nautical Club, a pleasant boulevard lined with restaurants, bars, and beach clubs extends. You will also find nautical shops and rental services for jet skis, kayaks, quads, and classic boats.

Moll dels Borja

Between the Marina and the Church of San Nicolás lies the Moll dels Borja, an area filled with bars where you can enjoy delicious tapas with a view of the harbor. If you need gastronomic recommendations, feel free to ask at the reception of our hotel, and we will share our favorite restaurants in the Port of Gandia.

From this area, boats depart for coastal tours of Gandia. One highly recommended tour takes place at sunset, where you can enjoy magical lighting and views while savoring a glass of white wine and fresh mussels from Gandia’s fish market.

You can book tickets here:

The International Fideuà Contest of Gandia is also held annually in Moll dels Borja, where chefs from around the world compete for the title of the best fideuà.

Church of San Nicolás

Without even realizing it, we reach a majestic modern temple. The first thing that will captivate you about the Church of San Nicolás is its privileged location within the Port of Gandia.

To see the church in all its splendor, we recommend visiting during the Grau festivities in July, when a traditional maritime procession takes place in honor of the Mare de Déu Blanqueta.

Built in 1962 by renowned architects Gonzalo Echegaray, Eduardo Torroja, and Joaquín Nadal, the Church of San Nicolás stands on a triangular projection over the sea, giving the impression that the building could sail away at any moment.

Did you know that one of the church bells is named María Ángeles in honor of the daughter of the founder of our hotel, Hotel Tres Anclas? This is because the church was largely funded by the people of Gandia, with Mr. Javier Cremades Carceller—founder of the hotel—personally financing the bell.

Port Sheds and Fish Market

Port Sheds of Gandia

Crossing the bridge, right in front of the Church of San Nicolás, you will find the Port Sheds. These symmetrical vaulted warehouses feature a stunning Clock Tower at the center and were built in the early 20th century.

The No. 15 warehouse houses the Sea Museum. The Valencia Port Authority has recently launched a competition for cultural proposals to revitalize the remaining buildings, which once served as warehouses for oranges, fish, and other goods.

Next to the sheds, you’ll find the Gandia Fish Market, where you can witness the traditional fish auction—a deeply rooted tradition in the maritime neighborhood of Grau.

For an excellent seafood meal, we recommend two restaurants in this area: La Llotja, offering panoramic harbor views, and El Hogar del Pescador, known for its excellent value-for-money seafood dishes.

In short, don’t miss this incredible area of Gandia, where breathtaking views, delicious seafood, and maritime experiences await you. At Hotel Tres Anclas, we’d be happy to provide you with a map of the area if you need one.
